Partner Spotlight: Building Resilience with Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. in the Philippines

By Bertie Squier, Head of Marketing and Strategy at E2G FOOD and Rhea Peñaflor, CLFI’s Programs and Development Division Head

At E2G FOOD, we believe that lasting impact happens when trusted local organisations lead the way. In the Philippines, one of those partners is Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. (CLFI), a foundation deeply rooted in community resilience, financial inclusion, and disaster response.

Who is Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc.?

Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI) is the corporate social responsibility arm of the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies. Established in 2000, CLFI aims to empower Filipinos through education, financial inclusion, and disaster resilience. The foundation focuses on serving underprivileged communities, including children, women, and the differently abled, and conducts various programs such as scholarships and financial literacy initiatives to improve their quality of life.

Operating in a region frequently affected by natural disasters, CLFI plays a critical role in rapid response and recovery, ensuring families receive immediate support while also helping them rebuild with dignity.

Why E2G FOOD partners with CLFI

E2G FOOD partners with organisations like CLFI because they understand the realities on the ground. Their deep local networks, trusted presence, and experience in emergency response ensure that nutrition reaches people quickly and effectively, especially during the most critical moments after disaster strikes.

By combining CLFI’s community-led approach with E2G FOOD’s ready-to-eat, nutrient-dense FOOD bars, we are able to deliver immediate nourishment alongside essential relief items, supporting families when access to food, water, and cooking facilities is limited.

The partnership is further strengthened by the leadership of Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, President & CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. and an E2G FOOD Ambassador for the Philippines. His long-standing commitment to financial inclusion, disaster resilience, and community development brings strategic depth and local insight to the collaboration.

As an ambassador, Jean Henri plays a vital role in bridging global nutrition innovation with local realities. His advocacy ensures that solutions are not only effective, but culturally relevant, trusted, and scalable within the Philippine context. This leadership reinforces a shared belief at the heart of the partnership: that sustainable impact happens when global systems are powered by local champions.

“In times of crisis, access to nutrition is as critical as access to shelter and safety. Partnerships like this allow us to respond faster, smarter, and with dignity ensuring families receive support that truly meets their needs.”  Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, President & CEO, Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc.

2026 Update: Tulong sa Pagbangon in Malabon

In early 2026, CLFI conducted its first Tulong sa Pagbangon (TSP) initiative of the year, anchored to its Disaster Resilience advocacy pillar. The programme extended relief assistance to 50 families affected by consecutive fire incidents in Barangay Potrero, Malabon.

Relief packs distributed to affected households included hygiene kits, canned food, water, biscuits, paediatric vitamins and E2G FOOD bars, providing vital nutrition during the early stages of recovery.

Ms. Rhea Peñaflor, CLFI’s Programs and Development Division Head, shared words of encouragement with families and highlighted the importance of nutrition in rebuilding after the crisis. She emphasised the value of E2G FOOD bars, noting that they help people feel full and supported, especially as families begin to start anew.

Impact that starts with community

This initiative is a powerful reminder that emergency response is about more than supplies. It’s about restoring strength, stability, and hope. Each FOOD bar delivered represents a moment of relief and a step towards recovery for families facing immense loss.

We are proud to work alongside Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. as we continue to support communities across the Philippines in 2026 and beyond.
